18 Large 19th century stone headed warclub probably from Papua-New Guinee area. The body of the club feels to have a wooden core and a large paddle head at one end. At the other end is a greenish/grey stone warhead. The outer part has been beautifully platted with strands of palm leaf / raffata with beautifull geometric and diamond designs. Long wooden shaft is joined to the club. I have heard these have been known to be given at weddings as part of a dowry. Dark age patina overall and some signs of age and wear but overall in good condition. One piece missing on the paddle type head (see picture).  Measures from edge of paddle to stone approx. 57 cm / 22 inches. Top to bottom of the paddle head is approx. 27 cm / 10 inches. Top of item to bottom of hardwood shaft is 22 inches / 57 cm. Stonehead approx. 3 inches / 8 cm by 3 inches / 7 inches (visible part).
