Antique sword-stick/sword-cane with ebonized/Japaned (black-laquered) bamboo shaft and handle. The pommel of the cane is made from an early Japanese neski carved from bone (possibly whale-bone) in the shape of a skull. The pommel is mounted on a collar made from a sharks vertebrae, this is completed with a silver band with sterling hallmarks and makers stamp (also engraved with initials WEG). The bottom of the handle where the blade protrudes has a white metal ferrel. The blade is aquare sectioned and approx. 25 inches (63 3/4 cm) long. The upper section of the blade from the ricasso is nicely carved for 6 inches of its length. Overall length in scabbard is approx. 35.7 inches (95 cm).
