Anglo Indian sword-stick. Japaned wooden handle carved in the form of a mythical beast with inset ivory or bone eyes and mouth. Lower section of handle is made of beautifully carved ivory or bone. Has a brass ferrel which doubles up as a locking catch. The sword-stick can be locked and opened by twisting the brass ferrel (similar to bayonet catch). Blade is approx just under 25 inches (64.5 cm) in length. Nicely carved back edge of blade in a style reminiscant to many Scottish highland dirks of the 18th and 19th centuries. Comes with nice Japaned wood scabbard that has some carving to top and bottom of shaft terminating in a large brass ferrel. Total item length in scabbard is approx 35.3 inches (89 cm).
