Chinese fighting broadsword circa 1880-1900ís. Probably from the Boxer rebellion. The blade is 60 Ĺ cm / 23 ĺ inches long and has 2 deep narrow fullers on either side. The tip of the blade is unusually shaped on the back edge (see pictures). Blade is still sharp. Thick oval handguard to the handle (similar to a Japanese Tsuba) with has 3 filed grooves to one part of the oval (kill notches?). The handle is made of 2 thick hardwood slabs which are two-tone grained wood in a reddish brown colour. There are 3 thick iron rivits that go through the grip which goes through the tang of the sword. Good solid fighting sword. Overall length is 75 cm / 29 Ĺ inches.
