Very nice 18th century (possibly German) hunting sword circa 1750. Beautifully stained bone handle with foliate designs and set with 2 brass/bronze studs to one side to aid grip. Brass or bronze pommel which is engraved and beautifully formed handguard with geometric designs to one side and a flower and leaves on the other side. The approx. 21 ¼ inch (54 cm) curved blade with clip point has a 6 inch false edge. The blade has engraved motifs including Turk’s head and mystical (cabalistic) numbers and letters also depicted is a half moon with a face and a hunting horn/trumpet with crossed arrows. The other side of the blade shows a cannon, a bow and arrows. Overall length is approx. 27 inches (68 ½ cm).
