18th cent. (1750-1815 time approx.) Napoleonic war / American war of independence era sabre. Could be Dutch or French naval sword. Curved 22 inch long / 56 cm blade, overall length is 27 inches / 68 cm. Blade has false edge of 14 cm/ 5 inches towards the tip. Blade has dark age patina and some dark age staining and a few light pitting patches towards the edge sections of the blade, a few nibbles. Brass D-guard, backstrap and ferrel at base of the handle. Has shagreen/sharksin grip over a carved wood ribbed grip bound with brass twisted wire. Underneath the D-guard at the base it has a dot stamped with a letter T then dot and 5 (maybe regimental marks?). The brass has nice patination. There are a few dings in the brass guard and guard is slightly bent in places. The blade itself is slightly bent in places as well. Overall good condition for its age.
